Homecoming Event March 2018

                                                                "Don’t be afraid!"

With these words, our host Jerre Maas, opened our bi-annual Homecoming Event for the students who went on exchange this Fall semester. We were very happy to see our students back on campus, exchanging all their stories and experiences with each other.

We were also very happy to have 2 Alumni, who both went on exchange who came to talk about how their exchange experience helped them in so many ways, both professionally and personally. Afterwards, our students enjoyed a ‘borrel’ in the Foyer, getting to know some other fellow students who went on exchange and learning from each other.

This is exactly why we motivate you to not only go on exchange, but to go out there even after your exchange. Even if you didn’t go on exchange, we would like to still encourage you to keep meeting new people and keep learning from new and different perspectives. By doing so, you will be able to benefit and learn so much from these acquired intercultural competences and use them not only in your future career, but for the rest of your life!

We, as the Study Abroad & Exchange team, would like to thank all those who came and we hope it was a useful and interesting evening. Maybe some of you will end up traveling back and forth like Daan Bakker did in order to find out where you belong after your exchange. Or maybe your exchange period has been a turning point for you which will make you choose different paths in life you couldn’t think of before, like Christiaan Lommers.

Irrespective of which route you will take, it was our pleasure to make sure your exchange has been a success and something to always remember!

                                                               Now: go out there!

Applying for Exchange
Not applied for an exchange yet? No problem! As stated earlier, we have our next deadline coming up - 3rd April so there is still enough time to submit your online application to us + motivation letter. For more information about how to apply, please click here.

We have a great list of available destinations for you to choose from.  However, we would also like to share here some amazing & very underrated destinations that we would like to reccomend.

                                  1. Mykolas Romeris University, Lithuania

Would you like to go on exchange to one of the fastest growing and advancing capitals in the Baltic States? A capital aspiring to be the most attractive centre for business, political and cultural meetings and events in the region of the neighbouring countries?

Then, Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius is the place to go!
Mykolo Romerio Universitetas (MRU) is the 2nd
largest university in Lithuania, bearing the name of distinguished Lithuanian lawyer Mykolas Römeris. With over 70 different study programs in the fields of Law, Psychology, Economics, Social Work and Public Administration, the university currently enrolls approximately 21,000 students.

If you are a Tilburg University student in Psychology, Management or Law, we would definitely recommend you to experience your period abroad at this dynamic and modern university in Lithuania!

                                              2. U
niversity of Southern Denmark

Although Denmark is also a relatively flat country, and the Danish language is from the same Germanic family as Dutch - that’s about where the similarities stop. Denmark is an incredibly diverse and interesting country to live in, and if you choose to study at the University of Southern Denmark, you will be part of a lively international student environment. Each year, more than 1500 international students choose to study at the University. They teach many courses at Master and Bachelor level in English so you can get by without Danish, in and out of the classroom.

Learning at this university develops in a democratic dialogue in which discussion between student and teacher is a mutual exchange of knowledge and ideas. Contemporary teaching tools such as e-learning and an emphasis on group work combine to offer a dynamic and world-class learning environment.

At the multi-campus university you choose which location suits you best. The largest campus is located in Odense, birthplace of world-renowned storyteller Hans Christian Andersen. The remaining four campuses with international students lie in Kolding, Esbjerg, Sønderborg and Slagelse.
It is available for students from TSHD, TLS and TSB and we would highly recommend this as an option Liberal Arts & Sciences

                                             3. ISEP USA & Multilateral

Due to a very popular increase of interest from students, we have managed to get 14 more places for an ISEP exchange next year. ISEP is a fee-paying program that has universities worldwide, and for 3.600 eur, you get your tuition, accommodation and meal budget included. ISEP exchange is only available for TSB, TLS and TSHD students and as of now, it is only possible to apply for Spring semester 2019. With over 300 institutions in over 50 countries, we are sure you’ll find a great choice for you.

Please note that to apply for this program, you still need to go through our regular application first. Just note ISEP USA or Multilateral as one of your choices, and then if accepted, you will be able to begin with your application on the ISEP website itself.

APAIE Conference + Hong Kong Visit

Our Study Abroad & Exchange coordinator for Asia and Oceania will soon be setting off to visit partner universities in Hong Kong.

In one week,  she will visit all campuses of City University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Also, she will be visiting a new partner university which we will work on getting this available for an exchange destination in 2019/2020.

Not only this, but she will also head to the 'Asian Pacific Association for International Education’ (APAIE) conference in Singapore afterwards. The conference is a very important way for us to meet our partner universities, and to maintain our warm relationships. It is also a chance to solve any issues or queries that might have popped up during the year. We also discuss new partnerships, and help get more great exchange destinations for you!

After the conference, she will also visit our Singaporean partner universities, so a very busy but also a very exciting visit for our exchange coordinator!
